Welcome to the Kayak School section of Waimarino

We’ve been teaching people, young and young at heart, to kayak since 1975.

From beginner to experienced, Waimarino is able to cater to your specific skill requirements.

Whether you’re getting into kayak fishing, sea kayaking, white-water, or for general safety knowledge; the skills you learn will provide enjoyment, safety, the satisfaction of thorough preparation and open a world of kayaking adventures for you.

We provide training and assessment to nationally recognized NZQA unit standards, either for individuals or for larger groups. We can submit these credits to appear on your NZQA Record of Achievement.  This training can either take place at Waimarino, or we can customize a programme where we come to you.
